Chihuahuas have pack of fans

Chihuahua Rescue

A heart warming story between the Chihuahua Rescue team and these cute, loving little animals. We have a 15 years old chihuahua at home, thought he is old, he is still quite aggressive sometime. However, I think it is aggressiveness is because of its protective instinct. As described in the story, yappy little chihuahuas are actually quite brave.

Southern California actually has the largest homeless Chihuahua populations, a fact I did not realize til today. Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego is doing a great thing by helping all these Chihuahuas:
“What happened was movies came out, and Paris (Hilton) and all these little starlets were carrying them around, and people thought they’d make money off them,” she said. “Southern California seems to be the Chihuahua capital, but Southern California is euthanizing 300 to 400 a week.”
San Diego County’s proximity to Mexico makes the breed easy to obtain. But when locals realize the cost of spaying and neutering or start to worry about how the dog will act around a new baby, they get rid of their pets.

And I totally agree with the writer: “Chihuahuas get kicked around and thrown out, and all they do is love you,” Pollock said. “You take an abused dog, feed it, take care of it, and within two days, that dog would kill a dinosaur for you.”

'Stair-Surfing' Chocolate Lab Puppy Goes Down Steps With Style

Click to see this cute Lab Puppies 2014 Calendar!
Ok, I know, this is not a Chihuahua, but this Lab puppy is just too cute to ignore!

It appears this funny little puppy figured out the fun part about stairs is just to slide down it with style, grace and enthusiasm! We don't know the adorable pup's name, its age or where it lives. Based on the video's title, "Chocolate lab puppy stair surfing again," we think it's safe to infer that this is a regular occurrence. The dog's surprisingly elegant dismount also indicates these "surfing" sessions have been repeated regularly. See more details here

Can't stop watching this video, you gotta love the way it "surf" down the stairs, it is so funny :D

The iPhone is Like a Chihuahua

Click to see Chihuahua iPhone Case!
Man's best friend used to be dogs (Chihuahua to be exact!) Well, maybe they still are, but we do have "newer" best friends these days, and they took on the form of electronic gears.

Folks at GetElastic posted this interesting infographic comparing dog size to screen size. Like dog breeds, there is huge variety in screen size. In their data set, the biggest screen is about 13.5 times larger than the smallest one. Though life for web designers and developers. Enough to drive them barking mad!

Our beloved Chihuahua is being compared to the size of an iPhone, and the cool Labrador Retriever is about the size of a laptop. What do you think?

You are welcome to stare at this cool inforgraphic and all its glory details for the next 15 minutes:

DVD Review: Chihuahua Too!

Chihuahua Too! Is a Chihuahua movie that is strictly for the young kids. Adults might find this move a bit too cheesy. That being said, there is nothing to stop you grabbing a copy of this heartwarming dog movie and have a good laugh with the kids.

The basic concept of the movie involves the Fastener family moving into a summer home which is hunted by a cute, long-deceased Chihuahua name Sophie! Now that should be interesting!

Little Sophie was a star of the silver screen during the silent era. The Fastener’s real estate agent (Paul Gregory) fills them in, explaining that the attic contains the old black-and-white movies starring Sophie, who was trained by the house’s original owners (apparently victims of the Titanic disaster). The parents decide they can’t afford the upkeep and need to sell. Jarred and Jan, however, have fallen in love with the property. The family dog Homer loves it too, having been the first to witness Sophie’s ghost. You can read the rest of review here.

While you can say this movie is a blunt knockoff attempt of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, it does offer an unique interesting plot and its own unique blend of fun. Plus, the dogs are adorable :)

Chiquita, the Skateboarding Chihuahua, Finds Her Home in Laguna Beach

Click photo to see a cute Wall Decal
Yesterday I ran into this sad story about this cute chihuahua, luckily, this sad story has a Happy Ending!

This 6-years old skating board riding Chihuahua made the news not because her special talent, but because she was give up by previous owner to shelter (financial reason). She hasn't been taking care properly either for she has some health issue. It is nice to see that this very "sweet and shy" chihuahua finally found a new home!

From Joe's Blog:
I’ve had a canine sidekick for years, but when I moved to Southern California from my native Iowa about a year and a half ago, I had to leave my dog Libby (also a rescue) behind until I got settled in; my parents       took her in. It was always my intention to bring her out here, but during that time my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and Libby proved to be a strong positive influence in mom’s life and she is completely attached – there is simply no way I could bring Libby to CA without breaking her heart. Mom and dad have adopted Libby as their own, so I have been thinking about adopting a small dog that would fit me well.

When I saw the NBC 4 story and this video of Chiquita, I immediately contacted the shelter. I heard back from Isha Willits with the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center, who suggested I come up and see her in person. I did, and tonight Chiquita is sleeping on my lap as I write this blog. It was love at first sight!

The shelter also gave me the doggie skateboard, which she absolutely loves. Some friends are going to help me build her a new one! In preparation for my adoption today she had to get some shots and a microchip, so it was a long day for Chiquita, but she wanted some skateboarding time, and I took her for a stroll and short ride. She was an immediate hit with the neighbors. You can read rest of the story from Joe's blog.

Checkout the video that was posted before Chiquita found a home. So cute!
